Yahoo! and Microsoft announced an agreement that will improve the Web search experience for users and advertisers, and deliver sustained innovation to the industry. In simple terms, Microsoft will now power Yahoo! search while Yahoo! will become the exclusive worldwide relationship sales force for both companies' premium search advertisers.
Microsoft Tag has evolved to the next level with the availability of an application programming interface. On July 23rd, 2009, the Redmond company announced the release to web of the Microsoft Tag API. The move is designed to expand the potential audience segments that can build Tags. According to the software giant, Tags can now be put together from not only the web, but also the desktop, and mobile devices.
About 12 years ago, Danny Glasser was heads down dealing with a problem. Users of Microsoft NetMeeting, an audiovisual communication client, were having trouble finding the people they wanted to talk to. This wasn't exactly ideal for a service that billed itself as a collaboration tool, so the team set out to find a fix. The proposed solution: enable NetMeeting users to maintain a list of the people they cared about, to be able to see when those contacts were online, and to be able to easily initiate NetMeeting calls with those contacts. It was dubbed the "Buddy List" project.
Microsoft has partnered with heavyweights of the anime industry in order to produce several original short animation films designed to deliver a new perspective over the Halo universe. For the expansion of the Halo franchise in the anime medium, the software giant will collaborate with acclaimed anime creators for the creation of the "Halo Legends" Anime Project. It will be Microsoft's 343 Industries to produce "Halo Legends," which is scheduled for the official debut on July 23rd, at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The Redmond company indicated that Halo Legends would be distributed worldwide by Microsoft partner Warner Home Video, with plans for the release still to come.
AMD announced the release of the company's first WHQL-certified ATI Catalyst graphics drivers for Windows 7 Release to Manufacturing (RTM), an important milestone in the development of Microsoft's next generation operating system. For ATI Radeon customers, the ATI Catalyst 9.7 driver is immediately available for download from game.amd.com.
