Samsung introduce World's highest density DDR3 memory chip
Samsung has announced that it has succeeded in developing the world's first 4 GB DDR3 DRAM chip by using the company's 50nm process technology. This announcement comes as a significant advancement towards higher volume memory. This solution improved overall efficiency.
According to the company, its latest 4GB DDR3 memory chip will also reduce the power consumption. The new 4GB DDR3 chip can be used to develop 16GB dual-line memory modules (RDIMM), as well as 8GB unbuffered DIMM (UDIMM), designed for workstations and desktop PCs. More over, Samsung's new DDR3 memory chip can also be used in small outline or SODIMM memory modules for laptops, for up to 8GB of memory per module.
This new memory chip provide double capicity compared to the previous 2 GB memory. The memory fetures a working voltage of 1.35 volts with a max speed of 1.6 GBPS. According to the company, 16 GB memory module configuration can reduce the power consumption up to 40 percent because of the chip's higher volume and they use only half of the DRAM.
