Low cost 4G WiMax device for indian WiMax market in 2009 by Intel
Intel will be going to work with the WiMax forum, and device manufacturers to bring out the low cost 4G WiMax device in Indian market in 2009 as announced by Sriram Viswanathan, Vice-President and General Manager of WiMax Program Office -Intel.
Initially they are going to focus on 2.3 and 2.5 GHz devices to leverage the upcoming 4G WIMAX networks. And participating companies would be part of alliance through the WiMAX Open Patent Alliance.
As we have noticed that Indian government has started 3G services in Metro cities, so finally India is on the 3G map of the world. And the announcement of the upcoming low cost WiMAX network proves that India is the fastest growing telecom Market in the world and it promises to be the largest potiential market for mobile WiMAX.
Initial WiMAX deployments to be for business fixed line broadband wireless access. But mobile WiMAX will not be too far behind if the intel and WiMAX forum led consortium can deliver low cost devices as promised.
