Dolby Axon: 3D Voice Technology to New Online Games
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. today announced the adoption of Dolby Axon, its 3D voice communication platform, in two upcoming online games.
Jumpgate Evolution, a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game by NetDevil, and Mission Against Terror, an online first-person shooter (FPS) game by Kingsoft, will allow their players to experience an entirely new level of immersion in game play with Dolby's Axon voice technology.
Dolby Axon offers us the highest quality 3D voice communication system available for our title. Dolby is a leader in audio that has shown a commitment to improving the voice chat experience in online games. It is cost-effective and we are excited at the great new game play experience Dolby Axon will offer our users, said Hermann Peterscheck, Producer at NetDevil.
The audio quality of Dolby Axon is unmatched and its creative API has brought a whole new dimension to voice in Mission Against Terror," said Mr. Wang Dachuan, Mission Against Terror Project Director. "The integration was rapid and the support provided by the team of Dolby engineers second to none.
Whether it's engaging in intergalactic dogfights or executing military missions, Dolby Axon enables players to better coordinate with their teammates," said Matt Tullis, Senior Marketing Manager for Games at Dolby Laboratories. "We're pleased to have worked so closely with NetDevil and Kingsoft in making it possible for them to offer an incredible 3D voice experience in their respective games.
Jumpgate Evolution is an MMO set in a persistent science fiction world. It utilizes a fully immersing "twitch-based" system that allows the player to engage in combat in a ship-to-ship action-oriented style. Jumpgate is also highly accessible, allowing it to run on a range of low-spec PCs, and has an endless stream of content with an innovative mission-generator mechanic so players will never find themselves bored.
Mission Against Terror:
Mission Against Terror (MAT) is an FPS game developed by Kingsoft Dalian JingCai Studio. Originally developed in China, MAT delivers an exciting online tournament experience. By integrating aspects of traditional Chinese culture, MAT provides an exhilarating local element for Asia and for worldwide players. Beyond the key elements of an FPS game, MAT also provides unique weapons, specially designed maps, different gaming modes, and customizable equipment.
Additionally, Kingsoft's MAT is the only FPS game authorized in 2009 tournament play by the China Electrical Gaming Committee, a nationwide online gaming tournament organizer under the All-China Sports Federation, and controlled by the General Administration of Sports in China.
