Dentsu will offer video on Nintendo's Wii
Japan's largest ad agency Dentsu Inc, said it joins hands with Nintendo to launch a video distribution service on Nintendo's popular Wii gaming console.
Both companies planning to offer programmes created for the service. Instead of offering existing movies and television programming, as seen in Sony's video on demand service and Microsoft's Xbox Live Video Marketplace, Nintendo plans to offer cartoons and "mainly family-oriented programming" options created especially for the Wii video service.
Nintendo has already sold approx. 35 million Wii consoles, which feature a motion-sensing controller that looks like a TV remote control. Dentsu and Nintendo will start offering the new service in Japan next year, while the timing for overseas sales has yet to be set.
