Kyocera: Kinetic Flexible OLED Mobile Phone
Kyocera recently introduced it new kinetic energy powered EOS folding concept phone that features a flexible OLED screen. The is capable of folding like a wallet.
The EOS phone consists of a soft, semi-rigid polymer skin surrounding a flexible low-energy OLED display. Shape memory allows the phone’s keys to pop up when in use and blend in with the surface during downtime.
Kyocera's EOS phone has a compact shape when you folded and user can make simple phone calls, but when unfolded the phone unveils a pretty large screen. The device feeds off its energy from physical interaction. the more you use the phone, the more kinetic energy is turned into an eletric charge through an arry of tiny piezoeletric generators. Now you will never have to worry about the leaving the house with a semi charged cell phone again.
Currently EOS concept phone is just in designing stage, but the company's staff in San Diego and Bangalore is studying different ways of integrating some of the phone's concept ideas in the devices that will be produced in the near future.
