United Microelectronics Corporation, ("UMC") convened its 19th session, 10th term of its Board of Directors meeting yesterday. During the meeting, its board approved to propose the acquisition by UMC of the holding company of He Jian Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. ("He Jian") for resolution at the annual shareholders meeting.

Logitech for Business introduced the Logitech Comfort Wave 450 keyboard, the latest in a line of keyboards, mice, webcams and headsets especially designed for businesses to save businesses money, eliminate installation costs and deliver productivity-enhancing comfort.

NVIDIA today announced that Cyberlink has released its MediaShow Espresso, an easy to use software application that converts digital video for playback on different portable devices, such as the iPod, iPhone, or PSP at very high speeds with excellent quality.

IBM announced a significant expansion of its capabilities around business analytics with plans to open a network of Analytics Solution Centers around the world, beginning with five in the second quarter of 2009. These initial centers will be located in Tokyo, London, New York City, Beijing and Washington, D.C. As part of this initiative, IBM will retrain or hire as many as 4,000 new analytics consultants and professionals.

Motorola, Inc. introduced a new series of business-class fixed radio-frequency identification (RFID) readers. The Motorola FX7400 series provides maximum functionality in a sleek package that is less than half the size of traditional fixed RFID readers, making it ideal for retail stores, offices, and other customer-facing or business environments.
